Topographic and Geodetic Works

From 2014 to 2019, as part of a project to dredging (construct) a channel near the Prorva field, providing a new vessel transport corridor for further construction work at the Tengiz and Prorva fields, GEOKEN Scientific and Production Center (RPC) LLP supervised the construction of the transport channel. Data was collected from multibeam and single-beam echosounders, and post-dredging volume calculations were performed. The work was carried out using the bathymetric method using MBES R2Sonic 2022 single-beam and multibeam echosounders, SBES Navisound Reson 210, with precise positioning using the Trimble SPS852 GPS system.

When performing geodetic measurements to survey the AV-5 well, the State Geodetic Network (SGN) points were used as reference points.
The survey was performed using a Trimble R7 GNSS GPS system in real-time kinematic (RTK) mode. Three survey sessions were conducted at the Alibek Vostochny field to survey the AV-5 well. Satellite observations were collected in RTK mode with a 60-second session duration, a 10-second recording interval, and a 10-degree elevation mask. The quality of the measurements was assessed based on the coordinate spread on the base vectors across the different survey sessions.

NPC GEOKEN LLC performed engineering and geodetic work at the ports of Bautino, Tenis Service, and Saga-Atash. In addition to the primary task, the company also developed a horizontal and vertical substantiation for the geodetic network of reference points at the ports of Bautino.
Given the specific nature of the study sites, which are spaced approximately three kilometers or more apart, the use of GPS equipment enabled the horizontal and vertical positioning of geodetic reference points.
The scope of work included the installation and static positioning of new reference points for further work on offshore projects and the calibration of vessels to determine the accuracy of the GPS system. The methodology for this type of work involved performing static GPS observations at at least three reference points, in sessions of two or more hours. Trimble 5700 dual-frequency GPS receivers with Zephyr Geodetic 2 GPS antennas were used for the observations.
During the above period, five benchmarks were installed at Tenis Service Port, three benchmarks at the new Tenis Service Port under construction, and three benchmarks at Saga-Atash Port.
